Our products

Our desire to find a solution for every character of dog has always given us new ideas. The realization of these ideas was always done with competent partners and we are very proud to offer them here.

Welcome to CP Scherk - Dogsport with Passion

Our passion has been for dog sports for many decades. We have dedicated ourselves to IGP Sport and pursue it at the highest level, both as active dog handlers and as trainers (of various breeds). (Our successes)

As a couple we are united by this enthusiasm, which we know how to transmit to the dog and dog handler with great pleasure. A core part of our philosophy is to combine the exercise itself with many positive emotions and thus to develop in the dog a passion for learning and the task itself.

The will to find a solution for every type of dog drives us to constantly develop our method further. It is very important to us to pass on our knowledge and experience and we enjoy training with others.

"Connie & Peter Scherk have accompanied me in dog sports for almost 10 years.
Learning and living their methods has led me to many successes in recent years. I couldn't have achieved these successes without Connie and Peter.
The two of them are my great role models in dog sports. "

This is also how our dog sport club "Team Heuwinkl" was formed, which is certainly one of the most successful in the world. Besides club life we offer seminars and coaching worldwide and are very proud of the success of our coachees.

Together with our friend Dr. Florian Knabl we wrote down our philosophy on the subject of obedience in the book "Successful together - the way to masterful obedience".

In 2020 we have developed a high-quality dog food , which we can use perfectly in training due to the special form of the croquettes and at the same time provides all ingredients for the active sports dog.

We want to ignite the passion for our sport in you and your dog and hope to accompany you on this way.

Collecting as the basis for a dynamic retrieve

Peter Scherk

It's easy for a motivated dog to run to the dumbbell and grab it - but how do we motivate him to come back to us with it as quickly as possible 🤷‍♂️

We solve the problem with the idea of collecting 💪🏻

Briefly described here: The retrieving wood represents a 5 dollar bill, for example - the prey with us has a value of dollar $50.

Together it adds up to $ 55, so definitely an added value compared to the $ 50 and especially compared to the $ 5 💪🏻

We teach our dogs that they either get "everything or nothing" - it's clear what they choose😜.

The great added value of collecting for us is that we can place maximum desire and excitement on the second prey (i.e. the way back). Our dogs would never spit out the first prey (the dumbbell) to get the second prey.

This gives us a good pick-up, dynamic turning and very fast running routes. Later, our dogs will also chair and present the dumbbell in high, very positive anticipation for the second prey.

If you are interested in this topic and are looking for detailed instructions, we recommend either the book "Successful Together- The Journey To Masterful Obedience"

available in this shop

or the instructional videos on the online platform www.dogsport-online.com

Have fun training and especially collecting!

Nose open - eyes closed (to the video click on the picture)

Peter Scherk

normally you say "eyes up" - but when tracking, it should be "nose up"

To prevent our dogs from orienting themselves to the terrain with their eyes, we usually walk at a slight angle to visible lines, as shown here in the video with the seed.

Experience has shown that many dog handlers tend to lay the track parallel to visual guide lines - even if only for their own better orientation.

Originally, these lines have no meaning for our dogs. However, they quickly learn to align themselves with them and use their eyes more and more.

The real problem comes when the track is laid at an angle to the optics during a test. The eyes then pull our dogs in one direction and the nose in another - this often results in swaying and very restless search behavior.

That's why we try to avoid this connection in the first place.

Manchmal ist es besser nicht zu trainieren

Sometimes it's better not to train

Peter Scherk

🇺🇸 Sometimes it's better not to train than to train under adverse conditions - at least that's our experience ❗️

Here is an example of tracking with Boss:

In the winter months from the beginning of December to March, we often have difficult conditions for searching. There is snow for a few weeks, then the ground is frozen, etc. ❄️

In between, there are sometimes days when it would be possible, but there would be no regularity. This would increase the risk of undesirable behavior or problems creeping in.

Our conclusion: we prefer not to practice anything during this period and start again in spring at the level we left off at in December 😀

In this video you can see the start of training this year with Boss 💪
